![]() ![]() I was in Vietnam in early 1968, when the U.S. It's unfair to blame a vendor for selling something that's built to the buyer's specifications if the buyer's specifications are faulty. Perhaps the lesson is not so much "low bidder," as it is "bad government specs."Exactly. Needless to say, the Checkmate folks aren't happy about the bad rep with which this unforeseen complication has burdened them. That's what led to the follower problems.Ĭheckmate reports that only when they had sand shipped in from Iraq for test were they able to duplicate the problem. The resulting surface inside the mag tube was akin to emery paper. The mags worked fine in CONUS, but the fine dusty sand in Iraq in particular imbedded into the Parkerizing. My understanding is that the DoD required a specific Parkerizing process. The story on the M9 magazines is a little more complicated than is generally recognized. I'm not going to attempt to repear those explanations. Use Advanced Search as enter "1911Tuner" as the poster. Please use the search function of the forum to bring up numerous threads on Checkmate and on hybrid lips. Most other magazines are made with parallel lips whose straight sides and early release make them most suitable for short SWC bullets, but which compromise feeding with longer bullets.Īnother important feature of Checkmate magazines is the availability of a properly-positioned follower "dimple." Hybrid lips are the best compromise for reliable feeding with both FMJ (ball) and modern JHP & SWC bullets. The latter are also tapered, but release the cartridge somewhat earlier than the fully-tapered lips. MarkMark, you didn't see the forum's group buy of Checkmate magazines that just closed? A group buy (group buys on M1911.ORG are arranged by the forum managers, not members) offering is the best possible endorsement.Ĭheckmate magazines come with both fully-tapered (original USGI & early commercial) and so-called "hybrid" lips. They talk about standard and patented follower magazines. I'm looking to buy 3-4 magazines and I wanted to try something "new and different" but of good quality. I did notice you have an 800 number, that is a great plus when it comes to attracting new customers who have never bought your products and may want information on them. I know for a fact I average over a thousand dollars a year spent in web and catalog purchases and have for a few years now and the more informative a website/catalog is the greater the chances I would do business with them. ![]() No offense but if this is the correct website and your products you do yourself "or perhaps your Boss does" and your products a great disservice by not having quality pictures and pricing of those products. What sort of warranty do you have on these products ? Lastly since no one else has asked how much are say 50 of your 7 round magazines with the dimple in stainless CM7S and O say these 8 rounders #CM8S also does # 14321 have a dimpled follower and price for 50 please ? Welcome Checkmate hope you have a thing for the 1911 like the rest of us so you will enjoy being here and are as dedicated to customer service as the folks at RIA are "every company in todays world could learn a great deal on how to treat their customers from thepresAPI/RIA and Ivan". ![]()
